*Cobblestone is a type of rock which has been historically used to decorate roads, buildings and fireplaces.
*“Never sleeps” is a saying which describes places or things that are always active. For example, New York City has been named “the city that never sleeps” as it is always very lively, even late at night!
*A funfair is a fair similar to an amusement park but it is temporary. It has rides, shows and often an arcade. The American term for a funfair is carnival.
*Punting is a form of boating. A punt is a type of boat which is commonly used to travel across rivers. The punt is steered by someone who uses a pole to push the punt forwards.
*The London underground. Also referred to as “the tube”, the underground is the first underground railway in the world!
*“Tickles your taste buds” is an idiom that you use when you enjoy something, in particular, when you find a certain food to be delicious.
*Haggis is the national dish of Scotland. It consists of minced heart, liver and lungs of sheep and it is traditionally encased in the animal’s stomach (or artificial casing).
*Chelsea buns are very similar to cinnamon rolls except they are filled with currants instead.
*Grime music is rap music originating from East London which started in the early 2000s. Famous grime artists include, but are not limited to: Akala, Kano, JME, Skepta and Stormzy.
*Staycation is a day trip you take to a nearby city.
