We look for teachers who meet the following qualifications:

While we do require our teachers to have a minimum of 2 years experience in English Language education, we appreciate all enthusiastic applicants. First, sign up for our TEFL course to get the necessary certificate, as well as additional hands-on training with our most experienced teachers.
Here at Come On Out – English, we believe the language learning experience should not only be academically effective, but also fun and interesting for both teacher and student. With this in mind, we take extra care in matching our prospective students with teachers. We base our system on teacher experience with skill-level, ages and content, but also shared interests. We both recognize the importance of students working with different teachers and the benefits of building a teacher/student relationship over a period of time.
Come On Out – English provides lesson material based upon the needs of your student. That being said, we believe that the learning experience is mutual and shared. It is truly important for our teachers to connect to their students and, in the end, each teacher knows their student best. Thus, we encourage and very much appreciate specialized content creation by our teachers for their students. For example, while we may not know that your student is extremely interested in becoming a photographer, you as a teacher might have had multiple conversations about photography. In this case, it would be great to create a mini-lesson on photography terms as a warm-up that will ignite the student’s interest and enthusiasm for the remainder of the lesson!
We believe every teacher (and every student) is unique. While we have specific strategies for engaging our students, we are open to creative, individual strategies from our diverse team of teachers. For a start, we always remind our team that smiling and positive reinforcement go a long way in making the students feel comfortable, safe and confident. We want our students to develop their language skills, but most importantly, we want to instill a love of learning.
Starting pay for teachers is $15 USD per hour (e.g. 50-minute lesson + 10-minute prep time) and dependent on experience. There is opportunity for growth too – teachers have the opportunity to increase their salary based upon attendance and performance.
Depending on your experience, each new Teacher will spend an estimated 3-5 hours of onboarding, training, system practice and in some cases, observing or being observed during lessons.
Each Teacher is a part time, independent contractor with Come on Out LLC, a US Corporation. Teachers are paid once a month and payments are sent via Electronic Money Transfer, Bank Transfer or Stripe/Paypal.
